Summer day Therapy
We provide individual and group therapy for teens, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety, trauma, and life transitions, using a relational and trauma-informed approach. Our work is grounded in helping clients feel seen, supported, and empowered to make meaningful change. We practice virtually and in-person in Long Island. The right fit matters. If therapy hasn’t worked for you or your child before, it doesn’t mean you can’t heal, it just means you haven’t found your person yet.

“Shira skillfully balances encouraging you to accept yourself as you are, while also giving you the tools to get closer to your most meaningful life.”- Former Client
It’s not about “fixing” you (because you’re not broken). It’s about helping you feel more grounded, more confident, and more like you. Oh, you don’t know who you is? No worries, we can figure that out together too! In our work, I’ll meet you where you are. We will explore what’s working, what’s not, and what meaningful change could look like in your life. Whether we are working through anxiety, building self-trust, or navigating big life decisions, we’ll do it at your pace, with curiosity, compassion, and a little bit of humor when it helps.
Therapy gives you the time and space to slow down, reflect, and better understand yourself
individual therapy
We’ll get curious about what’s going on beneath the surface— the patterns, the stuck places, and the parts of you that are ready for something different. This isn’t about having all the answers; it’s about slowing down, tuning in, and creating space to figure things out together.
Group therapy
At Summer Day Therapy, we offer Teen DBT groups, YA DBT groups, Social Skills groups, and groups for women who have experienced high conflict relationships. Please reach out to see if the group you are looking for is currently running!
My Approach
I work with teens, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and life during or after experiences like domestic violence, sexual abuse, or high-conflict relationships. I also support clients living with trichotillomania and other body-focused repetitive behaviors.
My approach is integrative and tailored to each person, drawing from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness practices, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and psychodynamic perspectives.

Yes— and I get it. Many of my clients come to me after not feeling heard or helped in previous therapy experiences. I focus on building a real relationship, meeting you where you are, and creating a space that feels safe, collaborative, and empowering.

I don’t accept insurance, but I can provide a superbill which is a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. I recommend checking with your provider to see what they’ll cover. Payment is due via credit or debit card at the end of every session.

Individual therapy sessions range from $250–$295 per session. I do offer a limited number of sliding scale spots based on financial need. If cost is a barrier, let’s talk about what might be possible.

I totally understand. I always start with weekly sessions — it helps us build trust, create momentum, and establish a strong foundation for the work. Once you’re feeling more grounded and moving into a maintenance phase, we can talk about shifting to bi-weekly or spacing out sessions. Many of my clients follow that path: they start weekly, then taper off, and eventually wrap up when they feel ready — often coming back for a one-off session here and there when something big comes up. Therapy doesn’t have to be forever, and I’ll always work with you to make it sustainable.

Group therapy rates vary depending on the group. I do my best to make group work financially accessible. I don’t want cost to be the reason someone misses out on group support, so reach out if you’re interested and we’ll find something that works.
